In Medellín we are going to create a team of psychologists who are going to accompany the women so that they make the decision with all the certainty. We are going to put social workers to attend in case it is an economic problem for us to support them in economic terms, “said Quintero.

“That is, if the problem is money, we provide the money; if the problem is the family, we accompany them so that they can talk to the family”, added the local president.

Quintero Calle said that he is against abortion but clarified that he does not agree with the criminalization and that no woman should go to jail for this.

Every abortion really makes me very sad, every abortion hurts me, I would never have an abortion and I hope my daughters never do., but I also recognize that perhaps the best way to prevent abortions is precisely being able to accompany those who are on the path to abortion. When there is an abortion, there is a drama, there is a woman who is in the middle of a drama, there is perhaps also a man who is behind a deep drama”, added the mayor.

On the other hand, the mayor announced that the areas of the city where there are more cases of abortion will be analyzed.

We do not have that information, it is secret information, it is happening, abortions are happening every day And in the areas where we see more abortions, we are going to carry out stronger campaigns to provide contraceptive methods. In Medellin, precisely because of that campaign of contraceptive methods and because of a campaign in schools, we have a 30 percent reduction in teenage pregnancy”, he concluded.
