The department of Cesar is at this time the region of the country most affected by the armed strike carried out by the Eln guerrillas.
The onslaught of the Eln subversive group once again affected Pailitas, south of Cesar.
On this occasion, two truck tracts that were traveling between the Palestina-El Burro road, Pailitas jurisdiction, were set on fire this Friday by the subversive group.
According to preliminary information from the authorities, armed men intimidated the drivers of these vehicles and forced them to get out of them.

They then set the vehicles on fire and went around the town firing shots into the air.
“Some guys got out of a white van and stopped traffic. They then proceeded to set the vehicles on fire. Later, many shots were heard in the town”, explained Elexo Trigos, Secretary of the Municipal Government of Pailitas.
This is the second attack on vehicles in this town carried out by the guerrillas, since, yesterday afternoon, they incinerated two and three trucks loaded with vegetables that came from Ocaña (Norte de Santander) bound for Barranquilla.

According to Trigos, the municipality is located from north to south and from east to west, by the subversive group.
“The situation is serious. We are caught in the middle of these attacks. We ask for reinforcement from the Army and the Police,” said an anguished Trigos.
Right now traffic is at a standstill. On the road there are more than a dozen trucks, private vehicles and some intermunicipal cars that were moving through this area.

This route is part of the sections enabled after the explosion of the Trujillo Bridge, located in this same territory.
Activities in the area have been paralyzed and fear is growing among the inhabitants, since Pailitas has been the municipality hardest hit by the ELN attacks during the armed strike.
“The people of my town feel fear and anxiety. My family and myself too. Pailitas closed! ”, Carlos Toro, mayor of Pailitas, commented on his social networks.
The president calls on the ELN actors to cease their actions in this territory.
“We cry for peace and an end to the anxiety produced in this territory,” the official stressed desperately.
Faced with the risk of a new subversive offensive, a curfew has been decreed in this town, where four attacks by the guerrilla group have been registered so far.
Among the recent attacks, the detonation of an explosive charge that took place in a ‘box culvert’ stands out, a small bridge located in the middle of the road between La Floresta, rural area of Pailitas and Pelaya, south of Cesar, which caused destruction to the section of these sectors.
