The environmental authorities of Aburrá carried out a detailed necropsy and other investigative procedures on the two birds and determined that They had been victims of animal abuse.

According to the evaluation carried out by personnel from the Metropolitan Area of the CES University and the Gelma group of the Prosecutor’s Office, it was found that the youngest macaw presented mutilations consisting of the cutting of its main feathers on both the right and left wings, its tail and other parts of the body.

The oldest macaw had lesions on its primary plumage. In addition, he had a wound to his skull and trauma to his neck. These injuries caused the bird to bleed to death.

The two birds had their primary flight wings cut off and, due to their presumed captivity, they changed their behavior., which is why they would have attacked each other. They both have lacerations on their body.”

Likewise, the necropsy determined that the animals were in a high degree of decomposition, which made it impossible to determine if they suffered or had other types of injuries. The bodies will remain in the custody of the Metropolitan Area to try to carry out other investigative procedures that shed more light on the case.

For its part, the Attorney General’s Office is analyzing the surveillance cameras where the macaws were found to find those responsible, who would have committed the crime of animal abuse.
