This is how the foot-operated device works.
The vibrator was created by graduates of the Industrial Design School of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS).
It is composed of a foot-controlled vibration mechanism of women and has a special silicone-coated saddle shape, which “allows the user to make movements with her body to stimulate specific points of the clitoris through vibration, without the need for complete penetration, which makes its use non-invasive”, they say from the UIS.

“Women with disabilities have always been very relegated or overprotected by their families and it is very difficult to recognize their bodies and manage sexuality in their homes. This device allows them to experiment and get to know each other a little more; Knowing each other more empowers them and gives them tools to decide what they like and what they don’t,” says Leidy Johanna Monsalve Arias, industrial designer graduated from UIS and creator of Lila.
The device was tested in more than 30 of women who voluntarily accepted participate in the research process, including some members of the Polymorphous Collective. in Bogotá, a support group for women in functional diversity-disability that makes visible different realities of discrimination and violence they face for living this intersectionality. Also, it was tested and validated by women without disabilities.

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) granted the national invention patent to the University for this new system.
“We believe that this product will have a very high social impact, from the taboo view of sexuality, prejudice and religious beliefs of most people. If we are able to give a person autonomy in their privacy, we are enabling dignity, and that is one of the most important contributions that we consider we are making with this project”, said the professor of the School of Industrial Design, Juan Carlos Moreno Muñoz.
