An unfortunate accident in a river in Antioquia occurred this Monday, February 28, in Puerto Nare (Magdalena Medio), when a 4-year-old girl who was traveling with her parents in a canoe on the Samaná River fell into the tributary.
According to information from the volunteer firefighters of the municipality, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. when the boat in which the family was traveling capsized causing the minor to be swept away by the river.
“The events occurred in a rural area of the municipality of Puerto Nare, in the Canteras district.
The family of the minor and people close to her request the collaboration of fishermen and riverside residents of Río Nare and Magdalena Medio to find the girl, who was wearing a black buso with a sign on the back, firefighters reported.

Jamel de Jesús Mejía, mayor of the municipality, informed Blu Radio that the occupants were not wearing life jackets because they trusted that they could cross without problem.
For its part, the Antioquia Risk Management Administrative Department (Dagran) warned days ago the Municipal Risk Management Councils of the municipalities of Puerto Triunfo, Puerto Nare, Puerto Berrío and Yondó “about increases in the levels of the rivers Magdalena and Nare due to high level transit upstream”.
