Around 3:30 in the afternoon this Wednesday she was murdered in Saravena, Arauca, Rosalba Peña, while she was at the wake of her husband, Álvaro Peña Barragán, who had been murdered on Tuesday night.

The fact was denounced by the Institute of Studies for the Development of Peace (Indepaz), who requested an immediate response from the authorities.

Witnesses indicated that the events took place in the home of Rosalba’s mother-in-law, in the 4 de Diciembre neighborhood of Saravena.

Family and friends of Alvaro They were at the wake of the assassinated leader when gunmen burst in and opened fire on the woman.

Indepaz pointed out that so far this year 12 leaders have been assassinated. Authorities are present in Arauca, where a wave of violence due to clashes between dissidents of the The Farc and the Eln are causing anxiety in this border department.
