Barranquilla with a new public transport system - Barranquilla - Colombia

Managers, members of boards of directors and owners of Operator One, whose companies make up 60 percent of the collective public transport fleet that operates in Barranquilla and its metropolitan area, began the work tables in which progress is made to publicize and implement the smart collection system (Sibus).

The new system, which includes electronic collection, fleet control, information and communications for users, should start operating during the second half of this year.

“Installations of devices of this system financed with resources from the Ministry of ICT and the Quality Factor have been carried out in the companies Alianza Sodis (Sodetrans and Transdiaz), Coolitoral, La Carolina and Cootrab”, announced a District spokesman.

According to the work schedule, the installations will continue during March and April with the companies Embusa, Flota Angulo, Cootrantico, Trasalfa, Cooasoatlan, Monterrey and Flota Roja. In the month of May, coverage should cover the 24 companies in the city.

Over the next few weeks, the AMB will continue with socialization and agreement actions, offering support to the different actors involved in the plan.
