Incidence falls 217 points and 601 deaths reported after the weekend

The cumulative incidence of coronavirus falls 217 points after the weekend to 1,244 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. All epidemiological indicators continue to decline, except for the deaths that total 601 reported since last Friday.

The sixth wave of coronavirus in Spain is still in a rapid decline phase, except for deaths. After the weekend, 601 more deaths have been reported, one of the highest figures after three days although many of the cases correspond to delayed notifications.

Last Monday, February 7, a total of 335 deaths from covid were reported in three days, while last Friday (last day with data), there were 389.

The total number of deaths since records are available in this pandemic is 96,596.

According to Health, the communities have reported almost 10,000 deaths (9,679) since the beginning of the sixth wave (October 14, 2021), which represents 10% of the total deaths from covid in the two years of the pandemic.

The incidence: 217 points less

The cumulative incidence to 14 days of coronavirus it has fallen 217 points since last Friday to 1,244 cases per 100,000 compared to 1,461 three days ago.

All regions have dropped below 2,000 cases and those with the highest incidence are Galicia (1,869); Murcia (1,861) and Cantabria (1,809).

At the other extreme, Andalusia stands out with 509 cases; Canary Islands with 555; Melilla with 846 and Madrid with 883 cases, according to data released this Monday by the Ministry of Health.

For age bracketsthe incidence is low in all groups, especially in those under 11 years of age with 1,811 cases/100,000 compared to 2,288 last Friday.

Infections: they drop to 68,706 in three days

According to the Ministry of Health, there have been 68,706 infections more after the weekend, in contrast to last Monday when the positives amounted to 120,818

Since the start of the pandemic in Spain there are already 10,672,906 infections on record.

The positivity rate of diagnostic tests continues to drop to 27.66 compared to 29.46 on Friday or 31.69 last Monday.

Less pressure on hospitals

The ICUs are at 16.34% bed occupancy with 1,525 patients, 63 less since Friday and 313 since last Monday.

Above the very high risk of occupancy (25%) are still the critical units of Catalonia (31%) and Aragon (26%).

In Spanish hospitals, on the ward and ICU, there are 12,170 covid patients (9.8% occupancy), 673 fewer patients than last Friday and 3,821 since Monday, February 7.

Vaccines

In total there are 38,382,155 citizens, 91% of the population over 12 years of age, with the full schedule of the covid vaccine.

In addition, 23.3 million people have already received the booster dose, 78.2% of those over 40 years of age, 38% of those between 30 and 39 years of age and 27% of those between 20 and 29 years of age.

56.3% of children aged 5 to 11 years (1.8 million out of 3.2 million) have received the first dose of the vaccine since the campaign began on December 15 and the first are already being inoculated with the second doses after the 8-week interval.

The rate of childhood vaccination in the autonomous communities is uneven, in the Balearic Islands it is 34.4%, while Galicia has vaccinated 82% of the pediatric population.
