Sofía Vergara shared an emotional message in which she recounted her experience when she faced thyroid cancer at the beginning of her acting career.
Through a photograph published on her networks, the actress of “Modern Family” remembered the scar left by the disease and took the opportunity to send an important message to her followers.
“At 28 years old, “Cancer” was not a word I expected to hear. It was just a routine checkup. But the doctors found a lump in my throat and that word became part of my story. I spent countless hours in radiation treatments and eventually surgery. Today, I can call myself a cancer survivor,” the reality TV star commented.
Sofía Vergara also explained that the photograph was taken after the diagnosis and treatment, therefore she feels grateful to life for overcoming the dreaded disease.
“This was my first acting class after diagnosis and treatment, and seeing the scar on my throat reminds me how blessed I felt that day, and every day since,” she argued.

“I’m lucky and grateful to be able to share my story and say ‘early prevention is so important!’ Schedule your annual checkup for this year if you haven’t already,” she concluded in the emotional message.
As explained by the actress, the cancer was detected in time after her doctor detected a lump in her neck.
“I think when you go through an experience like that your priorities change. You realize what is important to you”, recalled the Colombian actress at an event on the fight against the disease.
“Having cancer is not fun. You will not want to deal with anything else while you go through it, ”explained the also model about her experience since a person who is diagnosed with the disease must be under harsh treatment to prevent it from progressing.
The actress has become a symbol in the fight against the disease and her followers always thank her for inviting netizens to take care of their health and get timely checkups.
