William Dau says he is not afraid of investigations by the Attorney General's Office - Other Cities - Colombia

“It went in one ear and out the other, I don’t care because I haven’t done anything wrong.”

This is how the mayor of Cartagena, William Dau, responded after learning of the preliminary investigation that the Attorney General’s Office promises to open against the president, after audios were leaked where Dau is heard admitting his support for two citizens who would be seeking to reach The House of Representatives.

“I understand that the Attorney General’s Office opens a preliminary investigation, several people will have asked for it: the crooks here in Cartagena, including a crooked senator, so they are looking to open a preliminary investigation to see if they find merit to investigate,” added the president.

In the audio that was leaked last week on social networks, Dau is clearly heard announcing his support for Lidis Ramírez and Alejandra Benites, who would seek a seat in the House of Representatives.

“At no time have I negotiated positions, I have not spoken to anyone and the people who want to support me going forward have spoken. In private I can talk what I want, but what they seek to force me to do is that once my term in office is over, I hand it over to the thugs, and continue to elect the same thugs to Congress as always”, added the mayor.

‘I am not easily intimidated: I am not afraid of the ‘Turco Hilsaca’, much less of the control bodies’

The Electoral Observation Mission, MOE, also criticized Dau’s possible participation in politics and recalled that public officials, especially mayors and governors, should be on the sidelines of the current electoral debate.

“I am not participating in politics and in private I can talk what I want.

Why are there cases that have been going on for years and have never been investigated and have never been resolved?” questioned Dau, who assured that he is not afraid of possible investigations in this case.

“I am not easily intimidated: I am not afraid of the ‘Turco Hilsaca’, much less of the control bodies,” he concluded.
