A new case of femicide has dismayed the inhabitants of the department of Santander. A 21 year old was murdered in a rural area of the municipality of Lebrijaapparently by a neighbor whom she would have romantically rejected on several occasions.
The victim was identified as Yuliana Rosales Sanabria. and the alleged murderer as ‘Eduardo’, who has not yet been captured by the authorities.
The events occurred in the village of San Gabriel, in Lebrijaabout 6:35 pm last Saturday, February 12.

According to the local newspaper ‘Vanguardia Liberal’, the man arrived at Yuliana Rosales’ house on Saturday afternoon.
The versions indicate that the woman went out to talk with the subject and sat on a bench. Her relatives were not alarmed by the situation, since they already knew him and it was not the first time that she had been looking for her.
However, according to the report of the young woman’s relatives, the murderer attacked Yuliana with a firearm and shot her in the forehead. She then fled the scene on a motorcycle.
“When the two were talking near the door, the man pulled out a firearm and shot him.”, Colonel Óscar José Jaramillo, commander (E) of the Bucaramanga Police, told ‘Blu Radio’.
The woman died at the scene from gunshot wounds.

According to what Rosales’ family told the newspaper ‘Vanguardia Liberal’, the alleged perpetrator is a man who works as a laborer on a farm near the area where the young woman lived.
His relatives indicated that two months ago, subject began courting 21-year-old woman: I sent him gifts and other details. However, she rejected him on multiple occasions.

Now, the authorities are searching for the femicide, who fled and left the motorcycle at the site where he worked.
According to Andrea Blanco, from the Santander Secretariat for Women and Gender Equity, the Police, the Sijin and the Prosecutor’s Office are already carrying out the investigations and accompanying Yuliana’s relatives.

“Together with @PoliciaStander SIJIN, Patrulla en Casa and the interdisciplinary team of the Secretariat for Women we are in investigative work with the aim of clarifying the facts and providing psychological support to the victim’s family”, stated the official.
Yuliana had turned 21 last July and worked as a kitchen assistant. Her relatives described her as a cheerful and outgoing woman.
