Landslide in Manizales: three dead and the rescue continues - Other Cities - Colombia

At about 4:15 in the afternoon this Wednesday, a glide of land of around 2,000 cubic meters in the Centennial neighborhood of Manizales. The latest official report indicates that they rescued a lifeless person and two others, also fatalities, are still trapped in the rubble.

According to the authorities, among the deceased is a seven-year-old minor and her grandfather, an older adult.

“Nine people have been rescued and one who was listed as missing was in another municipality. All the rescued were transferred to care centers and are stable. The most critical is Jessica Quintero Aguirre, who suffered some fractures. Her rescue lasted about two hours “, said the mayor of Manizales, Carlos Mario Marín.

In the area it was also determined that there were two collapsed houses, one partially affected and four evacuated.

“Seven dogs and a cat were also rescued and evaluated by specialized personnel,” added the president.

At the moment, 10 dump trucks with soil have been removed from the ground and 146 rescuers work in the area in intervals of time.. Resources such as thermal cameras, specialized canines, drones, camera probes, scanners, exploration cameras, hydraulic equipment and cutting and penetration tools are used.

The mayor also reported that at 10:00 in the morning there will be a national PMU. The causes of the landslide are still under investigation, but it should be noted that at the time of the landslide it was not raining in the sector.
