A terrorist attack against the Trasandino pipeline in Nariño put authorities and communities throughout the region on high alert.
The fact It occurred on Friday night in the village of El Arco in the Mallama municipality, according to information provided by Cenit, a subsidiary company of the Ecopetrol Group.

Given the attack on the oil infrastructure that affected the area, the contingency plan was activated in order to reduce the consequences of the loss of containment. It was only verified when the area was secured with the entry of the corresponding maintenance team.
Minutes later, the company informed the municipal Disaster Risk Management councils of the Mallama, Ricaurte, Barbacoas and Tumaco municipalities of the attack. They are located in the coastal foothills and the Pacific Coast of Nariño.

“The National Army is in the area securing the site and guaranteeing the entry of the technical personnel that will attend to the emergency,” the company reported, which also called on the community of the affected sector to refrain from approaching the place, until the tasks of attention, repair, mitigation and other consequences for the loss of containment are completed.
Both Cenit and Ecopetrol rejected this kind of violent action and called for an end to these crimes that put the integrity of the population at high risk and generate serious consequences for the environment.
