The mayor’s office of the capital of Valle de Cauca opened the announcement to get the adopters who would take care of the horses that were delivered by the carters, who worked with the species, before the new law 2138 of 2021, when measures were established for the socio-labor conversion of this vulnerable population throughout the national territory.

Therefore, during the dialogue tables with the Cali forklift truck population held last year, the mayor Jorge Ivan Ospina projected the delivery actions for 2022, which in this case opens the calls for those who wish to adopt the equines and ensure that the animals continue with a good quality of life.

In the capital of Cali, since 2018 the first substitution processes for animal-drawn vehicles were carried out, in accordance with ruling C355 of 2003 ordered by the Constitutional court, and that although a large part of this population accepted it, a minority remained pending.

In this way, in 2021 the law 2138 that establishes measures for both social and labor reconversion for this population at the national level, which strengthened the activities that the Cali mayor’s office had been developing.
“Those interested will be visited, surveyed and the entire adoption protocol will be carried out to guarantee the welfare of the animals,” added Sierra Chávez.
The official also added that among the adoption requirements equines must be of legal age, have an adequate space for the species and demonstrate the economic capacity to pay for the expenses of the adopted horse.
