the secretary of Health of Valley, María Cristina Lesmes rang a warning bell about the possession of Emssanar, ordered by the Health Superintendence.
The situation adds to the liquidation of Coomeve EPSwhich impacted 400,000 users in Valle del Cauca out of the 1.2 million in the entire country.

“With Emssanar I think it would be the final stab at the public network. Emssanar’s debt with us in November was 170,000 million pesos,” said the official.
He added that the Secretariat managed a portfolio sale. “They deducted us from the December payments, that is, that debt increased again by the 13,000 million pesos that we gave them from the portfolio and what is being attended to in January,” explained the department’s Secretary of Health.
He referred to pending obligations of the EPS, which has 967,946 affiliates in Valle del Cauca.
He warned: “The liquidation of this EPS would be catastrophic for us.”

He indicated that the loss of Coomeva as a company that manages plans and benefits is already “a very serious situation that additionally affects a network of service providers that have lived from this entity, for 20, 26 years, serving its population.”
He is concerned that around 7,000 people are left without work.
“It is a serious economic situation for the department and a very complex health impact,” said Secretary Lesmes.

Coomeva’s debt to the Valley’s public health network is between 20,000 and 30,000 million.
“It is not a very large figure, however, it is very representative because it is from small hospitals and the economic damage it does to us is very important,” Lesmes reiterated.
