The sixth wave of the pandemic in Spain continues in the declining phase with 104 points less than yesterday to 1,893 cases per 100,000 incidence, without data from Catalonia. The deaths, however, add up to 361 reported in the last 24 hours.

Another 335 deaths were also recorded yesterday, in many cases due to deaths reported late. With a death date of the last seven days there are 762 deaths.

Since records are available, the total number of deaths in Spain in the pandemic is 94,931.

The incidence: high rate of decrease

The sixth wave continues its decrease in the cumulative incidence of coronavirus over 14 days to 1,893 cases per 100,000 compared to 1,997 infections yesterday, 104 points less.

All the regions, except Catalonia, which has not updated its data (3,139 cases yesterday), have dropped below three thousand infections per 100,000 inhabitants, such as Murcia (2,848) or Valencia (2,691).

At the other extreme, Andalusia stands out with 638 cases and the Canary Islands with 746, according to data released this Tuesday by the Ministry of Health.

For age bracketsthe low incidence in all groups, especially in those under 11 years of age with 3,081 cases (3,489 yesterday).

The infections: 43,831, one of the lowest figures

According to the Ministry of Health, there have been 43,831 infections more in the last 24 hours, one of the lowest figures since the downward phase of the sixth wave began and taking into account that Catalonia has not provided its data (yesterday it registered 31,335 positives).

Since the start of the pandemic in Spain, a total of 10,395,471 cases have been reported.

The positivity rate of diagnostic tests continues to drop to 31.16%.

Keep lowering the pressure in hospitals

The ICUs are at 18.76% bed occupancy with 1,768 patients, 70 fewer since Monday.

In Spanish hospitals, on the ward and ICU, there are 15,206 covid patients (12.2% occupancy), 785 less than yesterday.

Vaccines

In total there are 38.3 million citizens, 90.9% of the population over 12 years of age with the full course of the covid vaccine.

In addition, 22.2 million people have already received the booster dose, 77.3% of those over 40 years of age.

55.6% of children aged 5 to 11 years (1.8 million of 3.3 million) have received the first dose of the vaccine since the campaign began on December 15.

On the other hand, the Public Health Commission has agreed to allocate the new Novavax vaccine to people who had not yet been able to be vaccinated or who had received an incomplete vaccination due to allergies to any of the components of the other four vaccines available in Spain or due to other Medical indications.
