Juan Diego Montoya Mercado, a young man of 18 years of age, was shot in the head in the middle of a police procedure this January 24 in Medellin, in facts that are the subject of investigation.
Montoya was traveling on a motorcycle and was required for a search and identification by police officers, but he refused and fled.

According to preliminary information, when he was being chased by the National Police collided with another motorcycle, being hit by the patrol. Although he continued on foot, the police patrolman apparently grabbed his shirt from behind and shot him in the head.
As stated in the report of this Wednesday of the Information System for Security and Coexistence (Sisc), the young man was injured, was transferred to the San Vicente Fundación Hospital and died there.
Brigadier General Javier Josué Martín Gámez, Metropolitan Police Commander of Valle de Aburrá, informed public opinion how the events took place.

These events took place in the center of the city, in the Boston neighborhood, around midnight, where in the middle of a police case, which sought to identify some people who they were wandering about suspiciously, due to a call from the public,” he said.

And he added that the facts were immediately known, disciplinary and criminal investigations were opened, since the former are carried out internally and the latter by the Attorney General’s Office.
“The idea is to clarify, as soon as possible, regarding this situation, that the investigations be carried out as quickly and with the forcefulness that is required, in order to give an accurate answer to some questions that are raised now. “, added the commander of the Metropolitan Police.
