Between Books is an educational strategy with which the District hopes to positively impact 47,500 students, segmented between the transition and second grades of primary school.

Learning recovery processes, tutorials, reading clubs, digital platform and more lines of action are part of the pedagogical strategy. Since the beginning of the strategy, in 2016, they were shared and read 116,000 texts.

“The process of unifying the teaching and learning of reading and writing in the official schools of the city continues in 2022 through the Entre Libros macrostrategy, which will allow specialized accompaniment, material of reading and writing”, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Education.

We are going to deliver 1,000 master’s and specialization scholarships to teachers

“What we are doing here has never been seen before. We will deliver 1,000 scholarships of master’s and specialization to teachers, which means that, in these 2 years, one of every 7 teachers in the District will benefit, and before 2024 we will deliver 8,000 scholarships in professional technician for our young people, “said Mayor Jaime Pumarejo .

The plan is designed to be extended and the strategy in general should reach ninth grade students through the program Let’s All Learn to Read, which was established in an alliance with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

“Reading continued to be the flag for the recovery of learning, with the slogan that all children in 3rd grade should read comprehensively. And if this is not achieved, a remediation process is necessary”, said Bibiana Rincón, Secretary of Education of the District.
