The pigeon pea is a type of bean that is traditionally grown in the Atlantic and its harvest season coincides with the carnival season.
More than 30 families of midwives, producers and farmers benefit from this festival that is part of the Sazón Atlántico gastronomic route in 2022.
“Sibarco’s doors are open, with all the necessary logistics, to welcome visitors who know how to enjoy a good pigeon pea sancocho,” he said. the governor of the Atlantic, Elsa Noguera.

This Saturday, in Sibarco the entry will be enabled from 9:00 in the morning. Parking areas and biosecurity points have been set up at the entrance of the township, as part of the logistics of the event, which will have 38 points of sale located in the traditional patios and terraces of the midwives’ homes.

The Guandú Festival inaugurates the Sazón Atlántico gastronomic route, a strategy that promotes the reactivation and strengthening of the department’s traditional cuisines, through the Department of Culture and Heritage of the Government of Atlántico. With this program, in 2021, 10 festivals were held, which benefited more than 5,000 families linked to local cuisine, mobilizing more than 730 million pesos.
