An unfortunate news saddened hundreds of Colombians this Monday, January 31: actress Dora Cadavid, a television icon, died at the age of 84.

Dora Cadavid was born in Medellín on November 23, 1937 and began her career narrating poetry in a local radio program of the ‘Voz de Antioquia’; Later, the producer Fausto Cabrera discovered her and took her to the theater and from there she jumped to television. In 1954 she participated in her first soap opera called ‘Espectros’. In addition to being an actress and broadcaster, she was also a singer.
The Colombian was the grandmother of the photographer, musician and actor Diego Cadavid, one of the most famous in the coffee country. The last years of her life, Dora remained in a nursing home, after the death of her son Moisés, a victim of cancer.
The decision was made by her, since despite being under the care of her nieces and daughter-in-law, she felt that over time she would become a burden for them.

La exguerrillera sandinista Dora María Téllez, una de las figuras claves en la liberación de Nicaragua de la dictadura somocista, ha sido condenada en la tarde de este jueves por la justicia de Daniel Ortega bajo por los supuestos delitos de “menoscabo a la integridad nacional” y “conspiración”. El juez Ángel Jancarlos Fernández realizó un audiencia exprés, de menos de siete horas y, enseguida, la Fiscalía pidió para la historiadora y crítica de la actual administración 15 años de cárcel, más la inhabilitación para ejercer cargos públicos.
La condena de Téllez, inmortalizada por el Nobel Gabriel García Márquez en la crónica Asalto al Palacio, ocurre en un ciclo de juicios políticos programados contra los 47 opositores que Ortega encarceló a partir de junio de 2021 para eliminar toda competencia de las elecciones generales de noviembre pasado, en las que se declaró ganador sin competencia, perpetuándose en el poder junto a su esposa, la vicepresidenta Rosario Murillo.
La histórica y emblemática exguerillera de 66 años fue sometida a un juicio sin garantías procesales, de acuerdo a defensores de derechos humanos. Pero también agravado por varios factores: la audiencia fue realizada a puertas cerradas en El Chipote, la misma cárcel donde está encerrada y sufriendo torturas, según sus familiares, a quienes les impidieron ingresar al juicio.
Los únicos que tuvieron acceso fueron los abogados de Téllez, pero fueron incomunicados. De acuerdo al artículo 121 del Código Procesal Penal, los juicios deben celebrarse en la sede de los tribunales y no en prisión. Sin embargo, los familiares de los reos de conciencia creen que este hermetismo es para que no se filtren imágenes del deterioro físico y emocional de los acusados producto de los malos tratos que han recibido durante el encierro.
El juicio de Téllez ha seguido la misma tónica de los primeros cuatro opositores procesados esta semana: Yader Parajón, Yaser Vado González, Alexis Peralta y la activista Ana Margarita Vijil quien, tras ser declarada culpable por “conspiración”, escribió en el acta de culpabilidad “soy presa política” debajo de su nombre.

En paralelo a Téllez, también fue juzgado el líder estudiantil Lesther Alemán, reconocido por haber enfrentado cara a cara Daniel Ortega en 2018 en una mesa de diálogo. En aquella ocasión, el estudiante emplazó al mandatario, lo conminó a cesar la represión de las protestas sociales y a salir del poder. El universitario fue también condenado por cometer “conspiración para cometer menoscabo a la integridad nacional” y la Fiscalía, igualmente, ha pedido la pena máxima de 15 años.

“Hoy que Lesther es condenado cumple 213 días encarcelado arbitrariamente. El debido proceso es inexistente y le han violado todos sus derechos humanos. Lesther no ha podido hablar con su abogado ni recibir visitas de sus familiares. Ha sido sometido a interrogatorios extenuantes como mecanismo de tortura, a una mala alimentación y condiciones sanitarias que han afectado su salud”, expresó el grupo estudiantil del que Alemán es integrante. “El juicio contra Lesther ha sido ilegal e ilegitimo; una farsa judicial propia de una dictadura cuyo poder emana de la farsa electoral y violación sistemática a los derechos humanos de los nicaragüenses”, añadieron en un comunicado.
Juez sin competencia
La veterana defensora de derechos humanos Vilma Núñez de Escorcia, no solo cataloga como políticos estos juicios, sino que asegura que son “farsas y montajes”. Primero porque cuando la Fiscalía anunció la reactivación de los procesos en un comunicado, el tono era condenatorio de antemano al catalogar a los presos políticos como “criminales y delincuentes”. El Ministerio Público arrolló la presunción de inocencia antes de que los procesados pudieran estar frente a un juez.
Para los defensores de derechos humanos y familiares, los acusados tienen que enfrentar una defensa a ciegas. Entre las anomalías judiciales que han detectado está que los únicos testigos aportados por la Fiscalía son policías y simpatizantes sandinistas. Además, las pruebas presentadas son capturas de pantalla de redes sociales, algunas trucadas, mientras que los abogados defensores no han podido visitar a los acusados de previo y tampoco las querellas han sido cargadas en el sistema del poder judicial.
“Los juicios de Dora María y Lesther, aparte de todas las nulidades que se han venido cometiendo en la tramitación, y repetidas hoy en esta audiencia exprés, tienen un grave contrasentido con el Código Penal: el delito de ‘Menoscabo a la integridad nacional’ debe ser conocido por un tribunal de jurado y no por un juez técnico. Es decir, que estos jueces no tienen competencia. Entonces hay nulidad… pero ya sabemos que en Nicaragua los alegatos jurídicos no sirven para nada”, explicó la doctora Núñez a EL PAÍS.
El régimen Ortega-Murillo reanudó los juicios políticos este primero de febrero, mientras familiares de detenidos y el Consejo Superior de la Empresa Privada (Cosep) hicieron el llamado a un diálogo con el fin de liberar a los encarcelados. El régimen ignoró dicha disposición y apuró los procesos contra los opositores, los que –de momento– están agendados hasta el 24 de febrero. Lejos de mostrarse dispuesto a ablandarse, Ortega ha radicalizado su represión y procesa a las voces críticas con algunas de las leyes creadas para cazar disidentes, como la Ley de Defensa a los Derechos del Pueblo o Ley de Ciberdelitos, ambas aprobadas por la Asamblea controlada por el sandinismo.

Uno de los personajes que más compartió con Dora Cadavid en la exitosa telenovela ‘Betty, la fea’, es sin duda el diseñador de modas «Hugo Lombardi», papel encarnado por el actor Julián Arango.
Él era su jefe en la historia escrita por el libretista Fernando Gaitán. Dora hacía el papel de una de las modistas de «Don Hugo», además era su mano derecha en su taller de confecciones de ‘Ecomoda’.
Tras conocerse la muerte de «Inesita», Arango, quien es uno de los grandes actores de Colombia, recordó un homenaje que le hizo a su gran amiga Dora Cadavid en vida.
Fue durante una presentación de «Bettu en teatro», una obra donde aparecen todos los personajes de la icónica novela.
Ese día, Arango realizaba su magistral papel de «Hugo Lombardi», cuando de pronto llamó a «Inesita», que por obvias razones no hacía parte del elenco. Ella para aquella época, mantenía en un asilo de la ciudad de Bogotá, donde pasaba su vejez y sobrellevaba sus problemas de salud.
Acto seguido, el actor desciende de la tarima y la iluminación del show recaer sobre una mujer de avanzada edad que estaba en primera fila: era «Inés».
Arango se fundió en un abrazo con ella no sin antes pedirle «valeriana», un té relajante que siempre le pedía que le trajera para controlar el estrés en ‘Ecomoda’.
El público de inmediato aplaudió y le hizo el reconocimiento tanto a Dora como a Julián, por el homenaje que le tenían preparado a esta gran actriz que falleció el pasado lunes a sus 84 años.
A parte de estas conmovedoras imágenes, Julián Arango compartió varias publicaciones en sus redes sociales en homenaje a Dora Cadavid.
«Inés. Gracias por todo Dorita. Descansa en Paz», dice una de ellas.
Fans de «Betty, la fea» se han mostrado muy conmovidos con estas publicaciones y han comentado de Arango.
«Qué gran homenaje para una gran actriz, buena esa Julián», «Hugo Lombardi haciéndole un homenaje a su mejor modista», «Esto y más se merecía Dora en vida, grande Arango», fueron algunos comentrarios.

A sus 84 años y por complicaciones asociadas a una afección en uno de sus pulmones, se apagó la vida de esta actriz paisa que pasó sus últimos años en un hogar geriátrico.
Esto provocó algunas reacciones entre los televidentes y seguidores de la carrera artística de Dora, quienes cuestionaban a los seres queridos de ‘Inesita’ por no «querer» tener cerca a esta mujer que es considerada una de las mejores actrices en la historia de las artes escénicas de Colombia.
No obstante, Dora «no quería ser carga para ninguno de sus familiares», y por eso, tomó la decisión de que mejor la cuidaran en un ancianato de la ciudad de Bogotá.
Durante todo este tiempo se le ha relacionado (como su nieto) a Dora con Diego Cadavid, por llevar el mismo apellido. Sin embargo, el actor, modelo, músico y fotógrafo paisa, no es pariente de la fallecida actriz.

Recordemos que el joven bogotano hizo allí el papel de ‘Román’, un vago del barrio de ‘Betty’ que junto con su pandilla, le hacían bulliyng a ‘Nicolás’ y a la misma ‘Beatriz Pinzón Solano’.
Prueba de ello es que Dora tuvo un solo hijo llamado Moisés Cadavid, también actor recordado por su actuación con un papel secundario en la exitosa serie ‘Pasión de Gavilanes’. Él, murió el 23 de octubre en la ciudad de Barranquilla como consecuencia de un cáncer de páncreas.
