A spectacled bear was captured by the community when it removed two dogs from its habitat that tried to take away its tranquility and violate its natural space in Nariño.

The unusual scene was experienced by an inhabitant of the Miraflores township, in a rural area of ​​the Cumbal municipality, which, in addition to going viral through social networks, served to raise awareness among the population of that area in the south of the department about the need to protect this endangered species.

It all starts when two canines, one brown and the other black, approach a small forest on the top of a mountain and constantly bark, directing their gaze to the trees as if something disturbed them.

Suddenly, the dogs begin to run and it is because an Andean bear comes running out of the forest and chases those who it considers have interrupted its territory.

The bear then continues its chase down the hillside, stopping until it is almost 50 meters away from one of the barking dogs.

Next, the mammal, approximately two meters tall, reaches a tree, tries to climb but prefers to continue walking without taking its eyes off the dogs that never tire of barking.

The bear, typical of the tropical Andes, in recent times has been seeking to leave its territory, but running the risk of reaching places inhabited by people who never cease to be surprised and show fear and fear at its presence.

Faced with this kind of appearances recorded on social networks, there was no shortage of those who took advantage of the occasion to send messages aimed at the protection and conservation of these animals.

This is the case of Fredy Goyes who advised that to prevent a bear attack, the farm should be fenced to prevent the cows from entering the moor or forest. But not only that, he also recommends constantly monitoring the cattle, especially in rainy seasons.

From a media outlet in the city of Ipiales that reproduced the same video, the resident community in the area was asked not to harm the bear and move away.

Likewise, the importance of the spectacled bear was recalled as it is considered the guardian of the moors and gardener of the forest, since it helps to disperse seeds and renew ecosystems.

The Regional Autonomous Corporation of Nariño (Corponariño) has also been promoting educational and bear protection campaigns under the phrase “guardians of our legacy”.

According to the entity, it is a very shy and solitary species, with diurnal habits, it reproduces slowly, the females give between one and four offspring, they lactate for a year and can provide parental care for up to two years.

After almost a year of camping in La Florida Park, in Bogota79 families belonging to communities Embera Indians began their return to their reservations in Rich Town, Risaralda. Some will travel to Chocó.

The return to their lands took place after a consultation process between this community, the National Unit for Victims and the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá.

After the long journey of more than 12 hours in different means of transport such as buses, jeeps, motorcycles and even mules, some families have already arrived at the Dokabú reservation, in the Santa Cecilia district, in Risaralda. While others advance in the final stretch to the Chocoano reservations.

In total, 207 people who make up 79 families returned.
Of these, 58 are destined for Bagadó (Chocó), 9 will arrive in Carmen de Atrato (Chocó) and another 12 are arriving in Pueblo Rico (Risaralda), according to data from the Coordination of Returns and Relocations of the Victims Unit.

The director of the Victims Unit, Ramón Rodríguez, reported that they were given a kits of habitability, immediate humanitarian aid, support for sustainability and assistance in transporting belongings to their final destination, “we will continue in the process of agreement so that all indigenous people return to their ancestral territories with guarantees”.

Some of these families remained in Bogotá for about a year, avoiding difficult conditions and living from the sale of handicrafts and the aid provided by different public entities.

Last December, a first return of 150 families was registered and then another 113 to Risaralda and Chocó.

“The most important thing is to achieve the necessary conditions so that the families remain in the reservations. We want them to work in the fields with projects and to recover our traditions, so that they do not have to return to the city,” said the governor of the Unified Reservation in the territory, Julio Nayazá.

For 18 days no boat has entered the municipality of El Charco, Nariño, as a result of the mobilization carried out by more than 5,000 peasants who ask the Army to end the stigmatization and withdraw from their villages because they fear falling in the middle of the crossfire in a possible confrontation with the FARC dissidents.

The more than 5,000 peasants from 85 villages in the rural area of ​​the municipality of El Charco on the Pacific coast of Nariño, embarking up the Tapaje River to look for the military and ask them to leave the region because they can no longer stand the abuses of some members of the Public Force.

“The day of protest will continue until the Army leaves our territory,” says one of the peasants.

For its part, the trade turns 18 with the doors closed, the few merchandise and food that were in the barns and stores were sold out. The mayor (e) of this Nariño population expressed his concern.

“It is a hunger problem because we have already been closed for more than 13 days.”

The peasants, indigenous and Afro-descendant population continue with the open door of dialogue and insist that the Government left them to their own fate. For now, the time and date of the meeting between the entities of the national, departmental and municipal order have not been said.
