After the 14-day cumulative incidence record of this sixth wave of the pandemic in Spain, which was reached last Friday with 3,418 cases per 100,000, and after three days of consecutive drops, today it drops again to 3,381.

These undulations mean that it is not yet possible to determine whether the peak of this sixth wave has been reached.

The 7-day cumulative incidence shows a rise of 30 points since last Friday, from 1,456 to 1,486 cases per 100,000.

The omicron variant has been causing an increase in infections since the beginning of December, although there are autonomous communities such as Madrid or Andalusia that were not reporting the positive cases detected in the home environment, so the number of those affected could be higher.

There are autonomous communities that continue to rise, such as Catalonia, which reaches 5,402 cases/100,000, or the Valencian Community with 4,005, while those that are at the head of the incidence, such as Aragón, Murcia, Navarra or the Basque Country, are declining.

By age groups, those under 11 years of age are at the head (5,248 cases/100,000) and at the other extreme are the age group between 70 and 79 years (1,555).

Contagions: more than 9 million cases in Spain

Since there are records of coronavirus cases in Spain, the first was detected on January 31, 2020, this Monday the nine million barrier is exceeded, specifically 9,280,890, of which almost 50% of them have produced during the sixth wave that began in November.

After the weekend, a total of 305,432 cases are reported in three days, 101,810 per day.

Compared to the previous Monday, January 17, that number was 331,467, down 26,035 in a week.

The positivity rate of diagnostic tests continues to decline since last Friday (38%) to 37.39% today.

This Monday, the Ministry of Health has reported 253 more deaths since last Friday.

In the ucis there are 2,261 covid patients, 59 more since Friday, occupying 23.94 of the beds (23.25% on Friday).

For two weeks, the occupancy of ICU beds has remained at 23%, high risk, with slight ups and downs.

Catalonia remains at the head of employment and rises to 43.30%, while Aragon, the Balearic Islands and Melilla are above 30%.

vaccinations

70.5% of people over 40 years of age already have the booster dose, while 70% have already received the single-dose booster from Janssen and 81.9 from AstraZeneca, 19.6 million people.

The last groups to join the third dose still have low percentages, that is, 11.4% from 20 to 29 years old have been inoculated and 19.1% from 30 to 39 years old.

53% of children between the ages of 5 and 11 have been vaccinated with one dose, a total of 1.7 million of the 3.3 million target population since the campaign began on December 15.

In Spain, 90.7% of the population over 12 years of age has received the full course of the covid vaccine, 38.2 million people.
