This Sunday the ‘Great National March #ColombiaDefiendeLaVida’ took place, an event called by more than 15 civil society organizations that rejected the new regulations on abortion approved by five magistrates of the Constitutional Court.
Among the promoters of these mobilizations is Amanda Rosa Pérez, remembered for the novel ‘La costeña y el cachaco’. In a video posted on her Instagram account, the actress recounted part of her testimony to motivate people to take to the streets.
“I am a woman and I have suffered the harsh consequences of abortion. I join the defense for life,” she commented.
Pérez, who is part of the group, showed a replica of a 12-week gestation baby, “perfectly formed his little arms, legs, face, his whole little body. Innocent and defenseless. Let’s be the voice of those who have no voice and, really, let’s defend women. Colombia is ‘pro-life’”, he assured.
Another personality that he invited to go out and march was the journalist Felipe Arias. Through a video he pointed out: “My family and I support the march for life. Let’s be the voice of those little ones in the womb who have no voice, who want to live. We must defend life.”

The mobilizations were convened in different cities, including Barranquilla, Armenia, Cali, Medellín, Tunja, Pereira and Bogotá. Images on social networks show the massive attendance.
Abortion in Colombia
The Constitutional Court completely decriminalized abortion in Colombia up to the 24th week of gestation. After that moment, women will be able to abort if they accept any of the three causes previously established (malformation of the fetus, rape or risk to the life of the mother).
