For the second time in a week, the inhabitants of the Aguaclara corregimiento, in rural area of CúcutaThey were surprised by the loud noise of the rifle bursts and the grenades thrown at the police station in the area.
The incident occurred at dawn this Sunday, when a group of armed men stationed themselves in front of the police unit and harassed it for several minutes. Other subversives launched explosives from a wooded area.
The mayor of Cúcuta, Jairo Yáñezrejected violent action and called on citizens to denounce any illicit act or terrorist action.
“Fortunately, there were no casualties and situations to regret. Some of the criminals who fell in combat are in the process of being investigated,” said Yáñez.

The president recalled that during the last Security Council chaired by the Minister of Defense Joint patrols between the Army and the Police were ordered to be carried out on three road axes. One of them is the road that communicates with Santander Port.
“We are in solidarity with the events that happened in the town of Aguaclara. It affects citizens, life and the tranquility that we all want to have (…) I cry out for respect and cry out for us to work together. Let’s denounce the authorities and support the Public Force”, added the mayor.

This is the second attack repelled by the Police in this town, the previous attack occurred on Sunday, February 13. There were no casualties.
