BOGOTA COLOMBIA). Thursday, February 10, 2022 (RPTV NEWS AGENCY). Depression, malnutrition, diabetes and respiratory problems are some of the most common health problems and medical disabilities granted to more than one defendant for corruption or homicide, to evade justice.

“Many defendants in criminal proceedings pull out of the hat alleged underlying diseases, or congenital diseases, or diseases that are difficult to treat intramurally,” said Guillermo Rodríguez, a lawyer for public affairs and government.

Some health providers would presumably help those deprived of liberty. This was announced by the former Attorney General of the Nation, Mario Iguarán, former director of the journalist Alexander Oyola of the Direct Witness program.

“It is painful, it is deplorable that some doctors may be lending themselves to it and that they are giving certificates and opinions that do not correspond to reality,” Iguarán commented.

Some of the most recent cases that have used this method of evading justice are: Gustavo Malo, involved in the Cartel de la Toga, in his process he obtained more than 6 disabilities issued by his eps, a hernia and continuous depressive episodes.

Enilce López, alias “La Gata”, a chance businesswoman sentenced to 37 years in prison for homicide and conspiracy to commit a crime, was transferred to her luxurious home in Barranquilla after a legal medicine opinion.

One of the most notorious, the case of Rafael Uribe Noguera, his lawyers tried to pass him off as a psychiatric patient after having raped and murdered Yuliana Samboni.

“They resort to arguing and confronting for the purpose of obtaining a release, for the purpose of not advancing a hearing and thus delaying the process, even seeking criminal action prescriptions,” Iguarán clarified.

This crime of procedural fraud has a sanction of up to 12 years in prison and continues to be the daily bread in Colombian courts.
