Two peasant leaders were assassinated in San Martin, southern municipality of Cesar. The events were recorded at 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday in hidden port, rural area of the population.
The lives blinded were those of Theophilus Acuna and Jorge Alberto Tafur, spokespersons of the Interlocution Commission of the south of Bolívar, for the center and south of Cesar, south of Magdalena and Processes of the Santanderes (CISBCSC).

According to the preliminary report of the authorities, the leaders were talking with their relatives, when they were suddenly approached by unknown individuals, who shot them several times.

The deceased made a series of complaints for situations related to violence, which affect the peasants of the region.
“They were leaders from the south of Bolívar, but they frequently came to this corregimiento because people close to them live there. We are dismayed because they were known in the region and were murdered in front of their family,” said Leusman Guerra, mayor of San Martín.
At this time, the authorities are conducting investigations to clarify the facts and capture those responsible for this double homicide.
About the murdered
Teófilo Acuña was facing a process for the crime of rebellion and others together with two peasant leaders linked to the National Agrarian Coordinator.

For his part, Tafur had a career as a trade unionist, participated in the struggles of the National Association of Peasant Users – Anuc and in November 2021 he was elected a member of the National Board of the National Agrarian Coordinator.
