The shopping centers of Medellin lived through complex times during the pandemic, which in 2020 forced these spaces to close leading many businesses to generate affectations and even definitive closures.
From the Colombian Chamber of Clothing they estimated at the time that 30 percent of the commercial premises in the shopping centers dedicated to this activity would have to close.
However, since the end of May of that year the pilot for reopening of shopping malls With controlled capacity and little more than a year later, these spaces seek to recover the ground lost by the pandemic.
These are some of the most recognized shopping centers in the capital of Antioquia and its metropolitan area.
VIVA Envigado
Located in the south of Valle de Aburrá, VIVA Envigado is, perhaps, the largest commercial and business center in the country, since It has 260,000 square meters built, distributed in four levels (two commercial, one for entertainment and a sports terrace) and a business tower.
It has 394 stores, 16 movie theaters, 1,000 parking cells for motorcycles, 3,000 for cars and capacity for 130 bicycles.
This space also includes the Viva Park amusement park, which offers attractions such as the giant wheel, bumper cars and a wide variety of games for children and adults.
Hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The treasure
Parque Comercial El Tesoro began its operation in 1999 with 174 stores, then came a second stage in 2006 with another 180 stores and, later, a third in 2011 with 80 new stores, in addition to 1,200 parking spaces and an events center with a capacity for 1,200 people.
In 2020, the year of the pandemic, they opened the fourth stage “with more than 65 national and international stores, with a third level specialized in health and aesthetic issues. This new space came with 750 new parking cells”.
It is located on El Tesoro hill with Transversal Superior, on Carrera 25A # 1A Sur – 45, El Poblado and its hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm.

Oviedo
With 43 years of history, this shopping center is located in the exclusive Golden Mile sector, in El Poblado, on Cr 43 A # 6S-15.
In 2003 they inaugurated the fourth stage, with 24,000 square meters on five levels of commerce. With this came 33 large-format stores, 7 restaurants and 26 commercial stores.
In addition to the variety of commercial premises, games area, cinema and parking cells, Oviedo has four coworking areas, free of charge, and a charging and parking area for electric vehicles.
Business hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm and Sundays and holidays from 11 am to 7 pm
arkadi
Arkadia shopping center is one of the most recent in Medellin. Inaugurated in 2019, it is located next to the Las Américas Clinic, on Avenida 80 with Carrera 70, in the La Mota neighborhood.
It has a plaza with tablecloth restaurants, a tower with medical offices, a financial plaza, department stores and family entertainment spaces such as a movie theater and a bowling alley.
Also has Wi-fi zone, coworking and exact location service of the vehicle inside the parking lot.
Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Santa Fe
The Santafé Shopping Center began operating in 2011 in Medellín and with just over 200,000 m² it is one of the largest shopping malls in the city.
It is located on the Poblado Golden Mile (Carrera 43ª #7 Sur – 170) and has a wide variety of brands “that offer the best in beauty and health products, footwear, entertainment, leather goods, technology, varieties and home, clothing for men, women and children, opticians, watches, accessories, sporting goods, books, music, among many more”.
It is made up of four floors in which there are 2,629 parking cells and 384 commercial premises.
One of its main attractions is the decoration that they make inside each year, both at the Flower Fair and at Christmas.
Hours: Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm
